INDO790: Sulawesi Shield

A large old Sulawesi shield from the Lake Poso area. One piece wood construction with angled V-shape. The sides are decorated with inlay shell triangles, small shells and goats hair. The hair is in very good condition, but some of shell plaques and shells are missing and some are replacement pieces. There is also an old crack down one side that has been reinforced so it does not move. The entire edge is reenforced with rattan as well as rattan bands over the surface. The patina is good from age and use.
