INDO207: Batak Singha Panel

Batak house front panel with large Singha face. The mystical Singha figure is found on most traditional Batak houses, and many other works of art to ward off evil spirits. Good condition with faint natural pigment colors still visible. This piece is from the village of Lumban Bagasa and is pictured in the book "Tobaland the Shreds of Tradition" by Jean Paul Barbier in 1980.
