INDO439: Aceh Shield

19th century woven rattan shield from the Aceh people of Sumatra, Indonesia. This rare shield is called a "peurise" and has black designs and five bronze bosses. At one time there were four further bosses and a woven handle, which are now missing. Very good condition rattan considering the age and use in warfare.
